Jeanne (aka Jeanne S) posted a challenge yesterday for Hip Hop Thursday to make a card with stitching on it, and this is what I came up with: I was COVERED with pink glitter by the time I finished cutting out those 3 flowers! (and, for the record, the ribbon matches very well IRL, even though it doesn't look like it in the photo).
I started with a Wild Wasabi card base (4 1/4" x 11, folded in half to make a standard 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" A2-sized card), and added an embossed piece of white cardstock, which I hand-stitched, using a Bazzill In Stitchz Flourishes template to pierce my design first. Then I stamped my sentiment and the three flowers onto a scrap of Whisper White, using my *new* Essential Glue Pad, and sprinkled with pink glitter. I adhered a glittered chipboard frame from Making Memories onto the sentiment, then cut it out and re-punched the holes. I threaded the satin ribbon through the holes and attached it to the card (and the three flowers) using foam tape.
Note: The ribbon, you may have noticed, is tied around the card and through the fold on the left side. When I want to do that (it usually ends up that way because I don't often plan my cards before-hand), I just take a tiny sliver out of the fold with my scissors, matching the width of the ribbon. That's a trick I learned from Kristina Werner's blog videos...that girl is FULL of good info!!
Now for my request: JenMarie is offering up blog candy to anyone willing to make a card for her friend's daughter, who has Juvenile Diabetes, and an additional chance to win if you also donate to the JDRF and their upcoming Walk to Cure Diabetes. Our very good friends have a son (age 4) with Type 1 Diabetes, and I know how difficult it makes even everyday things like going to a playdate. Would you go check out JenMarie's post, leave some love, and maybe make a card for Mattie? Thank you in advance! {{hugs}}
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend!
~Michelle
