IC148 Harrilu Butterflies

Three posts in one day! Can you believe it?! Not something you should get used to, but it's been one of those wonderful, creative sorts of days *smiles*

This card is one for Saturday's Inspiration Challenge (IC148). The challenge was to use one of the *adorable* tees at Harrilu as inspiration for a card. I chose one of the examples in the actual challenge, this tee called 'Butterflies':
I love the graphic look of the designs on this website...I may be doing another card for this challenge. Here's my card:
I started with a standard A2 card base in Pink Pirouette. I stamped one of the trees from Tiny Trinity in black onto Basic Black cardstock three times, and cut out the top portions to mimic the shaped of the leaves. I also stamped this butterfly from Unity's August KOTM twice in Real Red on Real Red cardstock, and cut them out. I used a ZIG Writer and a french curve to draw the stems for the leaves onto the card base, then adhered the 'leaves'. After deciding where to put the butterflies, I lightly drew in some curling flight paths with a pencil, then pierced along the lines and 'faux stitched' with a red ZIG writer. I stamped the sentiment (a portion of a stamp from the Unity September KOTM) in Real Red onto a scrap of Whisper White, then cut it into a strip and cut a dart into one end, then added a red epoxy brad to the other end. I attached the sentiment strip and the butterflies with some foam tape, and called it 'DONE!'.

It's amazing how these Inspiration Challenges seem to stretch me. I can look at my SCS Gallery, and pick out exactly which ones were IC cards, though I think they still have my 'style'. What do you think? What stretches you?

Thanks for stopping by (again)! Be sure to scroll down to see the Unity Wednesday Challenge card, and (some of) the specials and goodies Angela is offering up tomorrow for HHT!

Out of all the cards on the SCS paper piecing link your card is the one that really jumped out at me. I love how you captured nature so softly. Then when I looked at your blog and found out that you got the idea off a shirt that blew me away. Great job!!!!
