Unity Challenge Wednesday #11

This challenge was hard for me (I know...that's why it's a 'challenge'!). I seriously struggled with my card for a *while*. But first, let me introduce the challenge for all you Unity Junkies out there... Lisa (lisamh on SCS) set us up with an inspiration challenge, to make a card inspired by these plates from Pottery Barn:Are they just so yummy?? So, I had 3 thoughts while gazing at these:
1) GORGEOUS!!
2) Hmmm....there's that Pacific Point/Kiwi Kiss combo I keep seeing but am scared to use...
3) Hey! They're a peacock on that top plate!! Time for a little 'Hey Chick'!

And, with those thoughts in mind, I came up with this:Which, as I said, took me FOREVER!! But, I think I like the outcome. Mostly. I'm not one to give up on something if I'm not liking it at first, I just keep pushing at it until I come up with something livable. *wink*I started with a 4 1/4" circle base of Pacific Point (dang, it's brighter than my usual colors!), cut using my Coluzzle after I'd folded the paper. Then, I stamped the chick 3 times, once on Whisper White, once on Kiwi Kiss, and once on Pacific Point, and paper pieced the colors onto the White base, which I punched using my pink Marvy circle punch. I mounted it to a Kiwi Kiss circle (cut with my purple Marvy circle punch), and then mounted all of it to the base using foam tape. And then I realized I didn't have room for a sentiment (grrr...). So I stamped it anyway on a scrap of Whisper White, and drew a 'talking bubble', and mounted it to the card using foam tape (2 layers on the PP base), so that it was hanging off the edge. The entire card still fits nicely into a standard A2-sized envelope, and the sentiment bubble gives it a bit of interest. *wink* The final touches, of course, were tying on a ribbon at the top, and adding bling to the chick's tail.So what do you think? Did I salvage it??

Make sure you go check out what the other Junkies are doing with this challenge...I've already seen a few, and they're FABULOUS!!

Thanks for stopping by!
~Michelle
